Play ground is pretty nice but can occasionally have some pretty rude mom's swearing a lot in front of the kids and sometimes even smoking weed. Even though there are clearly marked signs to not drive a car in the park I see one almost every day.
The Gordon Park Pavilion is a great space to rent. The large space and bathrooms are very clean, there's a little kitchen, with just basic appliances, and a large passthrough with a deep counter, perfect for setting up a small buffet. The space is air conditioned and there is nice green space all around the building, with a concrete slab "patio" at the back.
It's got a nice little playground and splash pad. They have an area for small toddlers then a climbing slide area for bigger kids. Plus baby swings and regular swing. There is a splash pad during thr summer as well as walking trails around the park and you can walk to the river. There is lots of open grass area and a covered pavilion. The last 2 times we went during the week after work in the summer the bathrooms were open.
