The gym membership counselor told us we could train for 2 days, try out the gym, and only charged us $2.89 and $1.00, for me and my girlfriend. Went to sign a written deal, and the deal was pulled out from under me, the fees and membership prices were hiked up tremendously in ONLY 3 days. Then he fraudulently charged me $21.95 and $19.95 without my consent. I called the bank, my credit card company, and ABC fitness billing about the incident. I also syopped by Gold's gym and spoke to the manager. They were slow to react, and... read more

Hi! My name is *****, Director of Community Outreach for the Gold's Gym SoCal Group. Please contact me directly at *****************@goldsgymsocal.com with more information so that I can look into this for you. I am unable to see which location you are referring to and would like to see what could have happened on our end. We don't have any programs that allow to pay $2.98 and $1.00 to "try out the gym" as you mentioned. I would like to make sure this situation is rectified to your satisfaction. Thank you.

My membership with Crunch had recently expired, so I was gym hopping trying to find a decent gym that my family could work out in. I saw that Gold Gym was offering 3 months for 60$. Pretty sweet right? I was so wrong. After working out for about 2 months, I decided it was time to cancel my gym membership (to see what other gym's had to offer). I went up to the front desk lady and asked politely to cancel my membership. Instead of canceling my membership, she gave me a card to cancel my membership. It was odd because their we... read more

This is a horrible business. They scam you, say something and sell something else. I signed up for a tryout Personal Trainer for 1 month, which I agreed to because of my strict schedule, but came to find out that they did the contract for 3 months. Their Trainer was almost never available although I was told that they will match with my schedule. Since then, for over 9 months now, I am trying to cancel their ENTIRE SERVICE AND MEMBERSHIP, and asking for refund. They finally gave me some refund but they keep charging me fo... read more

Good and clean gym. The staff are friendly and practise social distance. We must not let our guard down until this covit is gone.

I received a call from collections stating that I owed this gym $259. I never had a membership with this gym, I was attached to someone else's membership and they cancelled their membership last year due to the pandemic. We were both there in person and we were told we were no longer members but could always come back in the future. I am not sure how they can get away with doing this, as others have told me the same things recently with the gym offering to settle for $200. it seems like they are trying to collect as much mon... read more

A complete scam. Apparently found out that I have a past due balance of over $250. This was confusing because I had requested to freeze my membership & stop payments from my checking account. This charge apparently includes an annual fee. I never signed up for an annual fee - only a monthly fee (which I froze in June 2020). I was told over the phone that all members were sent an email notifying us that the gym was re-opening and directing us to notify you if we wanted to continue to freeze our membership. Yes, Golds Gym sent... read more

When LA county briefly dipped into a less restrictive tier last year (late-2020) the gym began to automatically charge without even notifying any of the members that they had reopened, they opened an outdoor area that was packed with people and few masks. Gold's will claim they they called and emailed people but they did not (and the only way to check that they were open was to follow them on Facebook, which I do not have or use). When the first charge went through to my credit card I called the gym and asked them what my op... read more

Business response:

Upon reviewing Davit's membership I found that he did indeed sign up for a year membership on 02/28/2020. This agreement was also initialed by Davit to be renewed at the end of the term. This agreement was emailed to Davit the same day at 3:10pm, after signatures were made by Davit. With a year agreement, a 30 day notice and "current" billing status is required to cancel. In regards to when Davit was charged, Gold's Gym reopened December 14th, 2020 and resumed billing January 1st, 2021. Davit's past due amount is fro... read more
