Convenient but Too Small for All Your Needs It's great to be able to pick up what you need when you're in a pinch in the North End. It's got a decent selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and prepared food. However, I wouldn't say that this could be your only grocery store. The price and size would make it very tough.
family owned - great service – i just went to Goin Bananas to grab some chicken so i could make pesto for dinner. they wasn't any left on the shelf, and they didnt have any in the back so i said "thanks anyway" and continued walking down the street. 2 blocks later, i felt a tap on my shoulder. the girl in the store had run down the street after me to tell me that she had found some chicken in the back. Bananas In 1956 the store front was a place Bananas were sold... is it the same place/space... you entered from the sidewalk..Is that why it is call Going Bananas? Did you capture the name from the history of the building? I was 3yrs old when I lived there and could smell the bananas all the way to the 3rd floor. The landlords at the time was Lentros a wonderful Greek family, which I still have fond memories. I will check back for the answers... but I was looking for something else on the net... so away I go...
