Tonedeaf, privileged editorials.

This publication staff is ignorant and unable to hide their racism. How dare they think attacking a Facebook group called “Black in Glastonbury” is right? This page helps POCs express their experiences of racism in a town too stuck in its ways to accept change. Rather than asking for appreciation for our good school system, ask what we can do better? Shame on you Glastonbury Citizen. Embarrassing!

I recommend not subscribing to the Glastonbury Citizen Newspaper because of their blatant racism and white ignorance.

Disgusted and disappointed in the tone deaf comic, still waiting for an apology and official retraction.

Disgusting cartoon that you printed this week. The Citizen has always been a waste of paper, and now even more so. You need to print a retraction and an apology. I can’t believe our town newspaper would think it’s ok to print something like this.

they are racist and tone deaf, mocking systemic racism and issues that harm those who are already oppressed

The Glastonbury Citizen made a poor editorial decision to print an off-color cartoon in its July 16, 2020, edition. The cartoon was thoughtless propaganda feeding the blatant racism in our community. While so many are out there trying to work on positive change, the GC is choosing to speak carelessly about the national effort at police reform, an effort aimed at changing police culture and saving lives. It is unacceptable for an editor to have allowed this cartoon to go to press. It is so obviously insensitive and wrong.

Absolutely disgusting to bare witness to blatant racism still being published within local media. Every journalist, editor and publisher involved should be ashamed of themselves. As a journalism student I am ashamed for you. Never would I ever, take a job with a company so careless and I hope the artist and the editor both get the sack. They do not belong in media.
