Gilda's Club does awesome work for the community and anyone impacted by cancer. I went here for support groups during active treatment and would recommend it to anyone seeking social support, including patients, caretakers, or those who have lost loved ones to cancer.
It took me a while to show up. I had been diagnosed for 3+ years by the time I finally showed up to Gilda's. It has been a shining light in a pretty dark part of my life. Cancer is not easy. Being around other people with cancer might seem depressing or morbid. I have learned so much by being around people who are also suffering... but more importantly, navigating health insurance and treatments and medial trials learning to live with cancer and on and on... They have all sorts of support for cancer patients, survivers, families. I got a free wig when my hair fell out.
