Number One Gibraltar Transmissions has a great staff! everyone was very helpful and kind. It's hard to find a good car place that doesn't rip you off. But I finally found one.
Best Repairs I've been going to Gibraltar Transmissions forever and have got nothing but the best repairs, customer service, and price! I was also impressed by the professionalism. These guys know what they are doing and do not try to take advantage of their customers.

stop stay away Just what some other comments stated... workers dont have much knowledge in the actual diagnosis of problems.. causing you to spend alot more than it should..learned my lesson..will never step foot in the shop or will i ever give someone a reference. Owner is to nice all he wants is your money...stay away!!
Love them. My favorite VW mechanic (the most honest guy I know - Dad) is too old to be bothering with this stuff anymore. So I've been taking my V-Dubs to Gilbratar Transmission on recommendation of a former co-worker. Despite Dad's sticker shock on labor charged, the prices seem to be fair, he's quick, and he's super easy to work with. Even if you're a GIIIIIIIIIIIRL. We've been taking both VWs to him for the past year or so and I've been pleased.
What a bad experience terrible work even worse turn around time for a simple job.Car went in with one problem and came out with 5 new ones that were cause by the lack of knowlledge of the people that work there.I wouldent tell anyone to go there.There supose to be the best tranny shop in staten island,if thats the truth then i would sugguest everyone to leave staten island to get your car worked on.
STAY AWAY STAY AWAY from this place please u will save so much money...brought my car in for a simple clutch repair..got a quote for 1200 ...the next few days after they give me another quote for 3800..rip offfs..asked to see the gear set..and they said no problem when i show up they say they dont have themm..so how do i know they reallyy replace my gears...i dont know how they still have buiseness..workers and owners only know the bsaics of a tranny...and dont get suckered into phil(owner) he never answers a question when h... read more
RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!!! Consumer Beware this place is a rip off! Came here for a leaking oil pan, they replace the transmission with a defective one they took advantage of my extened warranty and bang it for $ 2500.00 plus charged me three hundred in taxes. Got the car back and guess what the oil pan still leaked. Then they tell me since the bogus trans they put in my car was shifting awfully hard in reverse that it was a computor problem. Stay Away! STEER CLEAR I do not know if this will help anyone but here is my experience. Well about a year ago my transmission blew out and I brought it to Gibraltor Transmission and they replaced the transmission. However, a couple months go by and my check engine light comes on then all of a sudden my car starts jerking and refused to drive. I had to have my car towed to Gibraltor because my year warranty was not up. They took THREE weeks to fix what they called a "malfunction".
