Impeccable work and service – It doesn't get any better. I've seen many tailors over the years and Ghost Tailor takes the cake. Given any challenge - re-working vintage suits, rebuilding time-worn favorites - this shop consistently finds expert, elegant and imaginative solutions, no mater how many times I believed it couldn't be done. Skilled Tailor - Recommended – My experience with Jean (Ghost Tailor) couldn't have been better. I had three of my father's vintage suits altered...all were perfect when I picked them up last week. She had even repaired a delicate lining in a jacket that I had forgotten to tell her was damaged. Jean is professional and definitely has the magic touch. Working with her was a pleasure.
Unreliable and Overpriced – I found Ghost Tailor to be unreliable, manipulative and greatly overpriced. NOT RECOMMENDED! I used her once and will never again. She spent an hour with me at first talking as if we were great friends. Then made a big show of saying how it was going to be so very complicated to take in this dress of mine, and because I was going to wear it to a wedding, I think she took that as an opportunity to raise the price even more to nearly $200. Great Tailor – I have taken all of my alterations and repairs to Jean for years. Not only does she do small things like repairs but she also gives me great ideas for other clothing designs. We always have fun and she seems to really enjoy what she does.
Amazing Celebrity Secret – I have to say that Ghost Tailor is an incredibly well kept secret in NY. Jean has a mix of male and female clients (which surprised me simply because she's very well known for her wedding dress designs) and she also has a major celebrity client base. I've seen her work on many red carpet photos in US Weekly, magazine photo spreads, etc. and I always smile and say to myself "that's my tailor". Rude, Even to Want-to-be Repeat Customers – I had been a few tmes before for alterations with little incident. But when I called to try to bring some clothes in for an alteration recently I couldnt get the initial words out of my mouth before I was interrupted and tersely told, "Im booked for a week, sorry". So... 1.) The ghost tailor's attiutde is poor 2.) Apparently, she cant be relied upon for anything near prompt service There are more than enough good, polite and RELIABLE tailors in this city. Best designer/fine tailor anywhere with incredible customer service. – Let me say that for me to travel into Manhattan for any reason, a place must be superb. The only tailor I'll go to – I have been to tailors all over New York and Los Angeles and have learned that a lot of people have no idea what they're doing. Ghost Tailor is one of those NY secrets, like a good dentist, a great hairdresser, or the fact that you can get on the LIRR at Hunterspoint and get a seat on the train to Montauk before it gets jammed at Jamaica Station, that true New Yorkers know about and tend to keep to themselves.
