This location was such a stark contrast to the Starved Rock location we stayed at a couple of years ago. I was a Getaway/Postcard evangelist prior to this stay because everything was so top notch at Starved Rock. Not so at Barber Creek. Our cabin seemed a little run down. We were placed in a cabin that had an open shower with a shower curtain that did not block the water well at all. Perfect getaway. Cabins look just like the photos. Everything was very clean. No bugs inside or out for the 3 days I was there!! In August! Cabins are extremely well equipped with everything you could think of, plus more. As a solo woman traveler, with the exception of my doggo, feeling safe is a priority. I felt very comfortable and safe in my cabin while also feeling secluded. My favorite part was the lake that was just across the street. 👍: They answered all our questions quickly via text. Plates, bowls, silverware, olive oil, spices, pots, pans, coffee, sugar were all provided. Room was clean, AC was great! 👎: the bugs outside were horrible. So many gnats. Had a hard time even taking the dog for a walk. Couldn’t enjoy picnic table or fire pit.
Great place to unplug and unwind!!
Very peaceful and private. Room is clean has pretty much all u need 😊
