Cute place, and awesome food. Wait time was 30 minutes, enough time to over spend at the gift store. I loved the tacos, the fried cactus had a very baked good smell to it I couldn’t get past but god the mole was awesome.
A beautiful restaurant in the desert botanical garden. You can choose to eat inside or outdoors (they have heaters at night). The desert plants surrounding the outdoors patio look lovely with little lights. Good menu and quick service.
This restaurant is inside the botanical gardens, but you do not need to buy a ticket if you only want to eat there. The menu has a few special items featuring local ingredients and cuisine. A few of the specialties that drew us were the nopales tempura, the sopas, some of the tacos, the prickly pear themed drinks, and the date cake dessert. Gertrude’s was an experience! Our server was attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. The atmosphere alone would have been worth the visit. We didn’t go into the gardens because we found the admission cost to be a little high for our large group, but the atmosphere leading up to the restaurant and around the patio was beautiful. The NA drinks were delicious as well as the tacos.
