I've been living happily with cancer for just over 12 years. At the time of diagnosis, average life span was 7-8 years, up to double that if you see a specialist, so that is what I did. I've had two specialists, as Carcinoid Cancer is rare and in 2010 there were only two specialists, one at Cedars and one at UCLA for all of California.
