I work as a Caregiver for a woman who has Gentle Touch Hospice and they barely visit her at all in the assisted living place she resides in. 5 mins tops and after repeated requests they still aren’t bringing her diapers, wipes and other things she needs. I’ve been buying them with my own money which is insane. The family reimburses me which in essence means they are paying for things twice. I had a very positive experience with Gentle Touch Hospice when my friend was dying of advanced breast cancer. Her family was struggling to take care of her themselves; they didn't know that Medicare pays for 100% of the bill for hospice care. I’ve always heard hospice is supposed to be supporting and comforting with a compassionate touch. Interestingly enough you have to have people contact in order to feel support, comfort, and compassion. We can’t get any services we’ve asked for from Gentle Touch. What’s the point if all they are going to do is provide equipment?
This hospice company is great as long as the patient is never going to die. Hospice, should be the last term of your loved ones healthcare. This company was great until my father started to die ...then they had no clue what was going on.
