If you are looking for hospice care, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. My dad passed away nearly three months ago, and it was — and still is — an extremely traumatic event for my family and me. He had Parkinson’s disease, and after years of decline, we chose Gentiva Hospice in April because we were promised compassionate, quality care. Sadly, this was not our experience. If you are considering hospice care for a loved one, I urge you, please, look elsewhere. My dad was admitted into Gentiva’s in-home hospice care in early April of this year. He was dying from Parkinson’s disease, a cruel, torturous illness that slowly robs a person of their strength, mobility, and independence. As a family, we knew his time was coming, and we also knew that he wanted to stay at home. The last thing he wanted was to spend his final days in a cold, sterile hospital room.
