Still a great italian restaurant – It had been a few years since I have been here, but the food is still great. They have some great wine and the desserts - yum. I had a pasta dish and my friend had chicken, they were both delicious with great flavor. Its a great space for some special occasion dining, or a romantic spot with your loved one. And everyone was so friendly it almost felt like I was family. That is the kind of dining experience I really enjoy.
Great Atmosphere, but needs to step up service – First, let me just say I love Gennaros Ristorante. I love the atmoshere, elegance, romance of this cozy restaurant. It's where you want to celebrate Valentine's, Mother's Day, your Anniversary, etc. The food is excellent. Bottom line.. the SERVICE when it's busy is NOT up to snuff, all except for Reuben. Great Atmosphere, Poor Food – Went on a Tuesday night for a special dinner, on entering, the restaurant is wonderful, good linens, fresh flowers, prompt service. Small canapes placed on the table were great and signaled what we hoped would be a dining experience that would match the decor, we were quite wrong. Three of us ordered mixed salad and procuitto with melon. The food is wonderful, the service is professional, the seafood dishes are excellent as are their appetizers, with very big selection of the wines. Swordfish was bitter – I had lunch today with a friend. I ordred the swordfish steak. First off, after serving us the food, we had to remind the waiter that we ordered wine. I would understand if the restaurant is crowded but there were only 4 tables occupied including ours. I had the swordfish steak with tomato sauce and capers. This is one of the specials of the day. Roasted breast of duck, with port wine – This is a truly elegant restaurant. The food presentation is wonderful and also delicate in flavors. Gennaro has an extensive wine list and a caring staff who have been with him for the twenty years at this same location. They have a full bar and a delightful sitting area with a fireplace. This is the place for either a business luncheon, or a romantic dining experience.
