Try the Academy! – I am a student at the Gene Juarez Academy South Campus, and I am extremely disappointed with the reviews I've been reading about all of the Gene Juarez Salons. At the Academy our instructors work very hard to make sure we are treating our guests with the best possible customer service skills we can. Come into the Academy in Federal Way, its less expensive, but takes a little bit longer. My name is Miranda, and I am there on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and I would love to do your hair! Call and make a... read more
Major attitude - bad service – My husband bought me a spa day gift certificate for my birthday. I had to call a special number to book the reservation, and the girl on the phone told me what time to show up and said there would be one 20 minute delay beween services, no big deal right...? Well, I was there for 6 hours and only got four services! They booked an hour and a half to shower off between a massage and facial! I sat around the spa for most of the day...when I asked when my next appointment was they were rude and tol... read more
Best hair care in Seattle – My first message. I called the GJ Academy for an hair cut appt. Got in fairly soon. It was a Saturday so parking was easy. I got there a little early, and at the time of my appt. I was told they were running a little behind and they asked if I wanted to wait. I said I didn't mind. A student hairdresser came to me about 5 minutes later and introduced herself, then asked if I wanted something to drink. I said coffee would be fine. The coffee was great. My hair was really long, I asked her to cut at ... read more
Worst Facial Ever – I usually go to the Gene Juarez at Northgate Mall because it is closer and parking isn't such a hassle as it is downtown. I got the usual "Bionutrient facial" but they changed the name because they changed product lines. The lady was rude and in a hurry the whole time not to mention I left with superficial abrasions beside my eyes that lasted for almost two weeks!! They gave me my money back, but after the experience and embarrassment from what they did to my face, it was definitely NOT enough. I do NOT r... read more
Luxurious services collide with corporate culture at this downtown spa. – In Short The front desk and the urban, brighly lit salon have a fitting air of sophisticated chaos. However, there's a quick escape: the tranquil, feng shui-adapted waiting room. There, after changing into spa clothes and a luxurious robe, spa-goers are treated to an aromatic foot soak by the spa hostess. Services include the standards--facials, body-wraps, manicures, massages, mud masques--and more.
Too bad. – I recently sent my girlfriend and her friend for an all day, all expense paid visit to the spa. As I gave my credit card info., to set up the reservation, I made sure to mention that this was a gift and that I wanted these ladies burdened with nothing. So I was a bit dismayed when I recieved a call from my girlfriend to tell me that she was asked by the woman at the desk "How she would like to pay for this?"...Obviously, this put her, as well as myself in a very awkward position. I was then handed over to the woma... read more
Customer service came through! – I previously went to the Gene Juarez at Northgate, which is closer to where I live, and had a bad haircut experience with a newer stylist. I felt so awful about the cut, but I decided that I should just call Gene Juarez to let them know about my experience. The girl i spoke to was so great, and offered a certificate to have a re-cut or a cut done in the future. After explaining that I didnt want to go back to the same location, she was helpful in pointing me towards the downtown location. A s... read more
Horrible Service! – HORRIBLE SERVICE! I had a horrible experience here with Valerie as my stylist. She was extremely cold and snobby and when I asked her to do a simple style that they were more than happy to do at the Advanced Training Salon and took all of about 3 min. she responded with "They have more time to play with your hair at the academy" and wouldn't do it! I wouldn't pay $20 for my experience here, much less $70! Valerie doesn't really understand that part of being a stylist is being nice to your clients and maki... read more
I go to the salon to be pampered, not to argue – Some of the staff here is great (Colin and Jordan especially). Unfortunately, my last visit was so frustrating I won't be setting foot in this salon again. I had a new stylist, and was appalled at her attitude. She was completely dismissive of my idea (though I'd had the same style before), and refused to make any suggestions. She just threw a Vogue at me and told me to look at pictures of actresses. I go a salon like Gene Juarez for the experience and training, assuming the s... read more
