Gene Juarez Academy of Beauty This is a high-class place. Even though the stylists are students, they are awesome! I had a great time getting my hair styled. I was impressed by their skill in styling and carrying on a conversation. It was very pleasant, and it's all so inexpensive! The same thing would cost twice as much somewhere else. I definately recommend this place for anyone looking to save a few bucks.
No second visit. would not recommend I got lucky today. I had the best instructor & technicians. Hated the atmosphere. Deidra, RyAnn, and Taylor made my day...a long day. The salon is sloppy and the staff is unprofessional and they lack continuity in their training model. Most of the students there looked lost, scared, or bored. Very unorganized and not relaxing or comforting. I have done the hair model thing for several years at some of Seattles most reputable salons...this isnt one of them.
Dont let the name fool you. The school is not about teaching students, it's about milking them for contract hours so that they can make additional money. They lose track of important tests, they lose hours that you clock in and then penalize you for not proving that they are wrong. They use the Gene Juarez name to attract. The only good thing they do is prepare you for your boards because they want their students to appear really knowledgeable when you go take your tests.
a little something to think about a little FYI before you visit ... your going to a school to have your hair done ... meaning a student is doing your hair. The school has rules as to what they will and will not let a student do to someones hair. Most likely your service will be slow because of all the jumps the student has to go through to get a service checked as well as being slow because they are perfecting their technique. Also please remember that if they are unable to do something its probably not the students fault be... read more
worst service and management ever. I took my daughter in this past Saturday to have her hair done. her appointment was at 2:30pm and she was not done until after 7 pm. I was quated a price when I made the appointment and then was quoted a much much higher price when we got there. I was informed by a manager that they wait until you get there and then tell you the correct price which is over double what you are quoted on the phone. My daughter wanted her hair cut and layered and then black on the top and blonde in the bottom.... read more
Don't waste your TIME/hair or money I was there for 4 hours my haircut ($12.95 was barely a trim & my golden highlights (The $54 partial foil I paid for) was not even noticeable except the couple of blonde streaks, when I told them I couldn't even tell that my hair had been done they offered to throw in a few more foils but after being there for 4 hours I declined the offer & decided to not go back-btw I said I'd never go back once before (5 years before) because I was tired of spending 40 minutes in the reception area & 1 1... read more
Nothing but good to say about them My experiences at the South campus (Federal Way) have all been very positive. Everyone there was nice and professional. If you want a stylist who is professional and talented, I highly recommend Berlin. To date she has cut and colored my hair twice and given me a perm. They have all turned out top notch and I am especially impressed with the perm. I have very fine hair and have had probably 30+ perms in my life. The perm Berlin gave me was, hands down, the BEST perm I have ever had. The pro... read more
Bullyisum from students I went to this school 20 years ago when Gene Juarez owned it. He sold the name now it is a horrible school. They do not teach precision haircuts. Just go look at the quality of cuts from the customers leaving. They have teachers that went from beauty school, teachers training to the classroom. no experience in salon work. There is a tremendous problem with bullysum, predjudism, harassment from teachers and students. When a students report this 4 times with no attempt to resolve these issues from the st... read more
Good cut, awful color After asking for chocolate brown hair, I ended up with BLACK hair. It was supposed to be dark brown with a tint of red, not black with a blue tint. The cut turned out fine, but I could've done a better dye job with boxes on my own because at least I would've had full coverage. As it is now there are chunks of brown in odd places. The student didn't seem to care what se was doing and the instructor was so bogged down with requests that they were just rushing to get through everyone. I would recommend the... read more
