Had my Dad on a 7 day fast for hiatal hernia surgery. Normal Pre-op protocol is: Do Not Eat or Drink After Midnight the night before your operation. Day 6 of the liquid diet he aspirated due to general weakness and malaise. The day of surgery he was taken off life support due to severe negligence of local EMT and ER. A review of my Dad's records confirmed the 7 day liquid diet was ordered by MD. It was no mistake by a staff member.
