Enjoy a taste of Italy in San Francisco's Richmond District. Each tiny green booth in the restaurant has an individual jukebox that blasts Italian pop music. Wicker baskets and bottles of Italian wine hang from the ceiling. Large paintings of Italy cover the walls. The house specialty is the Margherita pizza, a traditional thin crust Italian pizza with blended Italian cheeses, red sauce and tomatoes. Most other large pizzas are priced lower than the specialty. Gaspare's is still one of the few San Francisco institutions left. Food is amazing and reasonable, and nothing beats the atmosphere.
Worst Caesar salad ever. It was like watered down mayonnaise on lettuce. Chicken marsala was really bland and the food in general was bismal and disappointing. Only cool thing was the plastic grapes that are draped from the ceiling. I really wanted to love this place.
Been my family pizza joint in SF for generations. Truly one of one!
