I felt heard by Dr. Garza the first session I had with him. (COVID times so FaceTime appointments.) The second session, which I chose a one-half hour because he's expensive and doesn't accept insurance, I felt somewhat heard The third session, again .50 hour, we spoke for 18 minutes. While I understand that therapy sessions don't last the full hour/half hour, he cut me off at around 16 minutes to tell me he had a new paperwork policy and I needed to sign it. Excellent doctor! He really cares about his patients. There are two things that most stood out to me about Dr. Garza. First, he listens. I felt heard and validated. Secondly, he gave me hope. Other doctors wrote me off as hopeless. Dr. Garza never gave up on me. He encouraged me when no one else would. Today, I am 4 years sober and working toward my goals.

He could have looked up once during the sessions and that would’ve helped me trust him immensely. Instead it felt like I was prescribed medication after medication without him even really listening to me or understanding the issues.
