In the 1950's and early 1960's, before Gary's Auto Parts Inc there was a junkyard called Dixon's Auto Parts. In 1966 Bob Diefendorf bought the yard from Pete Dixon. Bob, whom Gary had been working for as a mechanic, car salesman, and all around "fix-it" person for the past three years went to work to turn the yard into a used auto parts business.
