Dr. Gossen has been my GI doctor for 24 years! He is thorough, available to his patients and cares. I saw him first as a new patient in 1995 at 23 years young when I called with fever, severe abdominal pain and bleeding. Despite my young age he absolutely took me seriously and ordered tests that would confirm what he thought might be rare for someone my age. I have no doubt that he saved my life. I took my wife to the emergency room of a hospital with symptoms of a fever, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain. Three days later my wife was discharged from the hospital and sent home with no diagnosis of her symptoms. Dr. Gary Gossen, our gastroenterologist, after reviewing my wife's hospital records and a hospital CAT SCAN said, "I believe your wife has ISCHEMIC COLITIS and we need to do a colonoscopy immediately". Dr. Gossen is one of a kind in the care he provides to his patients. He is extremely knowledgeable and leaves no stone unturned to make sure he has not missed anything. I can truly say I owe my life to his diligence.
Amazing doctor. Over the years I had been to different GI doctors in San Antonio who continually diagnosed me with IBS without any testing ever offered, Metamucil & probiotics was all that was ever recommended. Dr. Gossen was the first doctor that actually ordered different tests for me. My test confirmed me with an actual diagnosis, not just IBS, and I have been treated and VOILA, so much better. Dr. Gossen goes above and beyond most doctors, very grateful to have him in our city.
