We ate there not too long ago and once seated almost 20 minutes went past before getting checked on to order drinks. The restaurant was not busy at this time as well. It took far too long to get our food(almost 45 minutes after ordering) and the food was just boring, bland, and not flavorful. Personally, it was a waste of time but maybe we will try it again in the future.

Enjoyed multiple courses, the confit duck croquettes were not to my taste but still seemed well prepared. The seafood spaghetti and cocktail were balanced and the server helped narrow down a cocktail to my liking. Matcha cheesecake was interestingly savory to end the meal but the frozen strawberry garnish was disappointing, possibly the solution when out of season but not what I wanted. Would come back to try other dishes but would only reorder the spaghetti and cocktail.

Overall I felt like I needed more, I felt the idea of the cuisine was new and exciting but I left feeling let down by not only the food but by the service. I ordered the Steak Don which I had high expectations for but not for skirt steak when it was advertised as New York Strip additionally I just felt that there wasn’t enough in the meal itself it came with cabbage and an egg and I felt the flavors overall were bland and the texture was off. A beautiful, upscale atmosphere with accessible, well-priced food, Garçon de Donburi is unique in its offerings. I have not really seen a Salmon Don (sashimi salmon on rice bowl) done aburri style (seared). This was super delicious and super rich - the Don comes topped with a poached egg.
