I had a defective heating/cooling blend motor. The manufacturer's fix recommended removing the entire dash of the car. I got quotes from several shops at $2,000 to replace it. Garcia's Garage found a creative way to replace it without removing the entire dash for $900. Most repair shops base their quotes on the number of hours that the manufacturer says the job will take (a flat-rate labor time book).
