If you're waiting for solar to power the South Texas grid, it's not going to happen any time soon. I just spent 6hrs trying to unloaded at their Taft installation and every single person I saw looked catatonic and lost. The quickest movements I saw any of them make was when they were texting on their phones, which they did while driving pickups, side-by-sides, skidsteers, telehandlers, whatever.
