I love this place! I've been coming here since it first opened back in the '70's. I don't stray far from the Large Special (pizza), though. The best pizza in San Diego.
GAETANO'S IS WORST I'VE HAD. UPSETTING... HORRIBLE! If you like Chef Boyardee, you'll love this place. Absolutely, inexcusably bad. The first salad I received had some dirt on some of the lettuce. It was taken away, then I received another salad, on which I notice dirt without even touching it!! Waitresses were meanwhile making penis jokes in the corner and eating themselves!!! Gaetano's Restaurant Good local Italian retaurant. Almost any dish is good. The pizza is especially tasty. Good atmosphere but can get a little crowded and then service can be spotty.
Good pizza I like to come here if I am in the neighborhood. The pizza is good; I like the pepperoni with garlic. This is a good local spot. It's been there awhile. I would eat there again.
convienent but not great I wouldn't recommend making a stop at Gaetano's if you're in the mood for Italian. The service was a little slow considering only 2 other table were occupied by small parties (2 and 3 people). The waitress was too busy talking to her friends right in front of us and by the time we received our food, it had cooled off a little too much. I've also ordered delivery hoping that it would be better the second time around but unfortunately it wasn't.
mediocre my family and i ate here because it was close to my apartment but the food was just OK. the fettuccine alfredo sauce wasn't very tasty and the service was a little slow considering it wasnt very crowded
