While I understand psychiatry is a difficult field, I’m afraid I just couldn’t fully trust the decisions Dr. Gaertner made in terms of my medication. I thought that overall he did not have the knowledge and expertise as others in the area.

Absolutely worst customer service! You can never reach your provider of clinical staff. Any and all communications take 5-7 business days!!!

After 10 years of being on my Tourette’s medicine he made my nurse practitioner stop it with only one month to detox myself. This is not something I take for fun or just for anxiety. I have Tourette’s for God sake...I think he’d be a little more understanding… But I guess I got his number… Thanks Dr. Gaetner for no help whatsoever..Your own nurse practitioner ,Sue Duke, Was against stopping my medication... but according to her ,it’s all up to you. You should know that your receiptionist told me despite my referral from a renowned PCP in the Spotsylvania area, and despite the fact I told her I’d been waiting weeks to get in and was in severe need of your help, your receptionist awkwardly said “sorry sweetie” and hung up on me. This was 10/28/18. It is a shame. I'd heard Dr. Gaertner was a good one. I hope the doctor becomes aware of how his staff is treating suicidal patients over the phone.

Our experience with Dr Gaertner and Elizabeth Wheatley and their staff has always been wonderful. The doctors are very caring and thorough. The staff is just as caring and thorough also. The staff works very long hard hours everyday and they have a positive impact on so many people that they help. The doctors couldn't do what they do without the excellent staff that are backing them up. We appreciate everything that the girls at dr Gaetner ' s office do so much. Always , Cheryl and Jen

I wish I could give them ZERO stars. They dont deserve even one star. This is an absolutely horrific practice. They have some of the rudest and most condescending staff that we have ever encountered, in any medical / professional practice, ever. "Angie" at the front desk is a real piece of work. For her, sarcarsm, condescension, and arrogance are as natural as breathing. Their billing is a mess. They can't get their charges or fees straight. Their bookkeeping works crazy early AM hours and never

He is honest, and I personally sometimes change my medications back to what they were previously prescribed without telling Dr Gaertner and he never gets mad at me (unlike every other psychiatrist) because he knows I'm just trying to feel better and he doesn't just say oh well it's your fault you shouldn't have done that he takes ownership in the first place.

Dr. Gaetner is by far one of the best psychiatrists we have ever dealt with... which is saying a lot since my husband has had a major mental illness for over thirty years. He is competent and professional as well as caring and perceptive. I would highly recommend him.... the problem is that he doesn't see many new patients because once he becomes your doctor, you never want to switch.
