Truly a downgrade from years' past – I used to visit this restaurant regularly (about once a week). The hostess (a former airline attendant) used to be friendly, and the food was good & reasonably priced. Went back today for a late lunch after a long absence. Things have clearly changed for the worse, and the hostess (from before) seems to have completely lost her hospitality skills. The food is now mediocre, and the wait-staff is under-trained and thoroughly unpleasant. I arrived at the restaurant early to secure a table fo... read more
Talk about a rip off! – After my latest visit I will never go back to Fujii Sushi. Not only have their prices gone way up but the amount of food has decreased substantially. I left the restaurant still hungry after having a "bento box". The food wasn't as good as other Japanese style restaurants and since they remodeled the crowd is packed in like a group of sardines. The female owner used to be more of the hostess but now just prances around like Queen Elizabeth and acts as if it is a privilege that one can eat there. I wil... read more
What a JOKE!! – It was two years ago I was there for lunch. I had ordered sashimi from the menu and added same salmon and I heard the waitress asking the chef how much should I charge her and he said charge her $54.00 in Japanese. On the menu it was under $30.00 dollars so four piece of salmon was $20.00 dollars. WOW!!!!! They had no idea I understood Japanese. Never wanted to go back but then yesterday I had no choice and I got another BAD experience. First of all the waitress asked are you here for sushi? What kind of ques... read more
Authentic Traditional Real Sushi in Town of Ichiro and Ken Jojima – As a Japanese guy who have been lived more than 20 years in the US, and travel more than 100 days for last 3 years. I miss real authentic traditional real Japanese Sushi once in while. Fuji sushi gave me all in once. In these days, we have seen many sushi chefs have never ate real sushi in Japan or sushi bar, but they make some thing like sushi in the US every where. Fuji sushi's chef from Chiba can offer real sushi or sashimi from fresh fish. This sushi/Jap... read more
exactly what you have in mind when you want to go out for sushi – We were given a table immediately upon entering. The sushi took a long time, but was worth the wait. They seemed to have enough staff to help every table, too, which isn't typical for such a small place. Speaking of small, it was a very cozy warm atmosphere, yet modern, which can be hard to pull off. Also, it was a very accessible location. We'll definitely be back.
Can't be beat – While the some of the previous reviewers seem to have had negative experiences, I can hardly complain about the food quality, especially considering the moderate pricing. The atmosphere is pleasant and especially nice if you're looking for something away from the crowds. I've been here several times for lunch and dinner, and the sashimi plates (my favorite) have a consistently good quality. I will be back.
they should change the name fuji sushi to fuji BENTO – They named their restaurant Fuji sushi but it isn't actually a sushi place. California roll always comes with imitation crab and toro wasn't realy good , tuna nigiri and salmon nigiri had weired color and fish were sliced too thin compared to amount of rice. Bento seemed like ok, it is cheap. But don't order sushi there. If you have had genuine sushi before, you cannot eat sushi at this place for sure.
Elegant sushi bar tucked into the backside of the International District draws a mixed crowd of fish-loving locals. – In Short Understated best describes the dining room decor at this mid-sized spot on a hill above the I.D., where a Japanese-heavy crowd mingles with in-the-know downtown workers and stadium-goers at lunch and dinner. The menu focuses on quality, fresh sushi and sashimi at eminently affordable prices, as well as on traditional Japanese dishes like katsu, tempura, udon, teriyaki and curry. Bargain lunchtime ben... read more
Great place for flavorless sushi – Our original plan was to go to Maneki, the wait however was 2 hours, so we thought we'd give Fuji sushi a try. Service was mediocre, they were busy so that's somewhat understandable. Although I did ask the lady, which I believe was the owner, for an order of sake, and an extra pair of chopsticks, she managed to turn around and ask the waitress to get my sake and forget about the chopsticks - my sake meant $ to them, what can i say. The price is average Japanese restaurant price, but the foo... read more
