Frontera Grill is the sister establishment of the more well known, Topolobampo next door. Both restaurants are from the celebrated Chef Rick Bayless, however this spot focuses more on casual dining. My favorite authentic Mexican restaurant of all times!
Love Frontera Grill - when we get to eat there!! Tried to make reservations over 2 months ago to no avail. Then tried to put our names in last Saturday night and were told to wait in line outside 1 & 3/4 hours for that privilege. Many other fine restaurants in the Chicago-land area know how to accommodate guests with reservations and still run a successful business. Mr R Bayless is an excellent chef, but should not alienate his clientele that will just go elsewhere, like Cantina Laredo which was very good.
The food here is amazing. Best Mexican food we have had. Prices are fair for downtown Chicago.
