The name of this restaurant has nothing to do with actual people named Frankie or Johnnie, in fact the words are old passwords between revelers and managers during Prohibition. 'Frankie' was used at the door, and if the reply was 'Johnnie', the drinking could start. Best for Steaks in NYC – It really is.. Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouse is the best steak house in the NYC.. I went there with my girlfriend and we ordered different steaks.. It was the best steak I ever had in my life.. Place is romantic and relaxed.. Bill was $180.. It's little pricey but overall, its A+
Disappointed! – Although the quality of the food was good, I felt that it was simply perpared and bland. Expensive and slightly over-rated.
Old People – Went there on a friday evening after work and the place filled up with old people. we were imediatly seated to the left. the food was ok, but i was expecting better. the service was good, you can tell those guys were pros. but overall, i will not be heading back.
The whole nine yards – This is really as good as it gets if one wants to have a steak in NYC. Really quiet place and aestethically calmy decorated with dark wood and sombre textiles. Very good wine list but that's not the reason to go there. The steaks are as good as it gets. I haven't had better anywere and I don't think I will. Great – The steak from Frankie & Johnnie's was great. I had the filet mignon, my wife had the porterhouse and we chared an order of french fries. A tasty meal at a classy place.
Loved this place – My dinner at Frankie & JOhnnie's was great. The T-bone weas awesome, the steak sauce was superb and our waiter was very helpful when we couldn't decide what to get.
Tasty! – Excellent food: I was visiting my sister and broither-in-law in NYC last week and we ate here and the food was delicious. The service was great and we had lots of food leftover to bring home.
Great Meal – I went to Frankie & Johnnie's after work with some friends and we had a great dinner. I'm not a steak lover but the non-steak choices on the menu were quality. I wound up having the Chilean Sea Bass which was really good and the waiter's wine recommendation was excellent. Definitely would visit again.
Awesome – My kids came into town to visit adn the whole family went to Frankie & Johnnie's for dinner. It was scrumptious. I loved every bit of my porterhouse and my fries. The only problem I had was that I felt like I couldn't move after dinner--it was so filling.
