Best restaurant on Taylor Street – Francesca's served me the best pasta I've ever had, anywhere. While you can't beat Tuffano's Vernon Park Tap for friendliness and neighborhood atmosphere, Francesca's does edge them out on the creativity of their menu. I had "capalacci" last night - a hat-shaped pasta the waiter said they have only sometimes. Stuffed with mushrooms and mascarpone, it was absolutely delicious. The manager said it's made by "some old guy who used to be a baker" who brings it in himself. Whether the story was ... read more

Most consistent, affordable Italian restaurant. Be smart, make reservations. – It always happens - polarizing opinions get written because you've had a terrific or terrifying experience. My advice: use spell and grammar check if you want to use "big" words. (See the one-star review below.) I'm not a fan of Taylor Street. The college student/west-looper crowd just doesn't pass muster. If your party insists on staying on Taylor Street, make reservations at Francesca's On Taylor. The pricing keeps the college students out, and ... read more

Best Tuscan Italian in City – Have been going to this place for 10 years and have never been disappointed. I really do think it is the best Italian in the city. Also love Saporo di Napoli on Belmont.

EXCELLENT FOOD - but be willing to wait! – I LOVE Francesca's. Their food is excellent. Their wine is good and very reasonably priced. My fave appetizer - prosciutto di parma. Muah. Wine/Appetizers/Food - all VERY highly recommended. Now the downside: You have to be willing to wait. This past weekend took us almost 2 hours to get seated (but of course we went with no reservations). The host did bring us a round of champagne as a way to make up for the wait. It's also very noisy, so having conversation can be difficult. It's ... read more

Declining Service – My recent experience has left me very disappointed in Mia Francesca. The maitre'd/manager (Fernando) was startlingly rude and presumptuous. The restaurant was 2/3 empty and yet he refused my 70 year old grandmother a chair to sit in until the rest of our party arrived. When a chair was requested a second time, he refused us by saying, "I see her. She looks fine." He then proceeded to sit us in the very back near the bus station and bathroom. We said no and he again made my grandmother stand while he chose... read more

My Mia! – I Love this place. Italian food isn?t usually all that exciting for me, but I get excited when I go to Mia Francesca. You definitely want to make a reservation, no matter what day of the week it is. They will usually seat you promptly. The service has always been knowledgeable and pleasant without being over eager. Assorted, changing specials with reliable stand-by?s make for a great menu. Most importantly, the food is always fantastic ? and the price is right on. Try it out, you WONT be disappointed!

nicest place to eat in Lake Forest – Despite being located in haughty Lake Forest, Francesca's has a cozy, warm ambiance. The wait staff are experienced and unflappable. The food is pretty basic: don't expect anything too wild here. Lots of traditional pasta dishes, and some excellent appetizers, including a warm spinach dish made with garlic and olive oil -- it's incredibly mild and tasty (it has shallots in it as well). Desserts are reliably good. It is a small space, so if you have a large group or plan on going at a peak... read more

Patronising Hostess and incompetant managament food ok , service fast but not polished – What can I say, when you take the trouble to book and that establishment accepts bookings, you are on time what can go wrong!! So you had to wait a 10 minutes also not so bad - if handled correctly. However, the patronising hostess and the ineffectual manager could not do this and hence spoilt a evening with loved ones. Please spare us from management that fogets the focus of the customer - after aksing politely what the delay was i was ... read more
