Just had my first couples therapy session and it was something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Out of the 60 minutes, she spoke around 45 of them straight, nothing related to our relationship or what we wanted to work on. We told her specifically that we had issues staying on task and needed a therapist to help with that, she did the opposite and encouraged rambling. I wasted over a year with this practice. I was not appreciated, they were continuously late, many no shows without notice, sessions being a waste of time talking about their situation and not mine. I would not recommend.

At one point, this practice was great. I don’t know what happened but it all went down hill. I saw one of the therapists for a year. All of the sudden, she stopped showing for appointments and I couldn’t get ahold of anyone in the practice. Towards the end, she started suggesting I go on a 3 day fast to “reduce inflammation” even though she knew I had a history of disordered eating. No, just no. I wish I could list all the things that went wrong when I took my teenage daughter there for her first session. Thankful I stayed in the room with her the entire time. It was a fiasco, and I tried to be nice, but there is no way I would trust myself or my teenager to their care. The therapist must be at a low point in her life - she discussed everything from her abusive marriage and inability to get pregnant to euthanizing her horse and chihuahua. This therapist took me awhile to get into as I was searching for marital counseling. In the first visit the listening skills were great and she seemed to be of concern with the situation as she said she had stated , she was a former cheater as well and understood from both sides of our situation. Every visit after that I felt that it I was just another client as she had also told me she has thousands of clients waiting to be seen and if I didn’t feel comfortable to let her know and she would release me.
