We recommend having a caretaker run water at all fixtures once per week and flush w.c.s to keep the p-traps from drying out (so you don’t experience sewer odors!), but if that isn’t possible we suggest using the main shut-off valve to turn off water to your entire residence during your absence. Small precautions can save you from big headaches! 😁

I have lived in a house that has a septic system for 4 1/2 years, and though Amos has explained how it works it never really stuck in my brain. But on Friday we had the drain field redone after months of issues and after seeing the work as it was done I wanted to understand!
