Just passing through on our way to Martinsville and even though we arrived a half hour before closing, they were still welcoming. Quirky little place with friendly staff. We had the brisket, which is more like pot roast in flavor than brisket...they should just sell it as pot roast (can’t really fault them though as they make the pot roast comparison on the menu), pulled pork (tasty but on the dry side, it needed lots of sauce), collards, baked beans, cornbread and coleslaw.The sides were all amazing! Amazing food! Super clean! Loved it highly recommend! The meat was the perfect smoky taste.
We stopped by on a Saturday night, it was 7:30, they close at 8:00. As soon as we were seated they started putting the barstools on the bar and chairs on the tables then proceeded to start sweeping the floor near our table. Not very appetizing to eat while dust & dirt are flying. The food was very good but we won’t return because we felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome.
The hubs has been raving about this place since he ate there a few weeks ago with some buddies. We both ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I found the meat to be rather dry, so I tried some sauces (which I don't usually do because I like to taste the meat and not the sauce), and that didn't seem to help. I ate the whole thing (because I was famished), but it was just food for me.
