One of the city's best sushi deals, wrapped in an unlikely Wash Park joint. – In Short This worn-looking restaurant is so close to the sidewalk that the sign is barely visible. But once inside, Asian prints, statues and plants create a comfortable sushi bar. Closely packed tables allow quick rearrangement for larger groups. The sushi here is inexpensive, but it's also very fresh. Options include yellowtail, salmon and tuna and a long list of rolls. A variety of teriyakis, noodle bowls and other traditional Japanese dishes wi... read more

Customer Attentiveness Needs Some Work – We finally went to Fontana Sushi based on several people's recommendations. The first time we were there, we had to seat ourself (and it wasn't busy). The Sushi was very good and we went back. This time we, and several other folks, waited for 20 minutes before someone even talked to us to get our names to add to the waiting list! Then a month later I saw some story on FoxNews about health code violations. Net is, that even though the Sushi is good/average and I could even overlook the... read more

If you are out for Sushi, this is not the place – I was there tonight because of recommendation from coworkers & this site; however the dinner was very disappointing. So much so that I couldn't wait till get home to write this review. sushi was not really sushi at all. They were more like bad fish on rice cake. cooks were pressing the rice on the nori to the point that the grains lost shape. They were also holding &handling the fish for a long time. rice was warm, it end up heating up the fish on top, making them fishier.Eve... read more

Good Sushi – My girlfriend decided she would like her Birthday dinner here. Fontana's gave us our own private room away from the rest of the guest which fit all 13 of us comfortably. We ordered 3 very large plates of different types of sushi, rice bowls, soup, vegetable, beef, and chicken teriyaki, plus drinks. The waitress was able to keep everyones order straight, what they were drinking, etc. Wonderful service and food.

1st time was good, 2nd time was terrible! – I've visited Fontana's before, but after my last visit I most likely won't be back. We went to dinner there on a Thursday night. The place was pretty empty. Once we were seated it look 10 minutes just to see a waitress and order drinks. Several waitresses brought different items so it was hard to tell who was our individual waitress. We had to go find out waitress to place our order because we were left sitting in the corner. The waitress didn't even know who we were or where we we... read more

Here Fishy! – I'm very local to Fontana, and I've been there at least a half-dozen times. It's good, competent sushi, but the portions are a leeetle wimpy. Also, service is not top shelf. However, it's very affordable, and I'll agree with another reviewer that I don't want this place to get "too discovered". No, it's not Sushi Den (which is overrated anyway unless you want to show off your cleavage), nor is it as good/authentic/pleasant as the 2 best in town -- Fujiyama (which for some odd reason cannot be rated on Denver Ci... read more

Fantastic! – This sushi spot is tucked away in a part of town that you wouldn't think to find a sushi restaurant, its easily overlooked. My wife and I love the place and go there very often...take-out or eat in. Sure the service isn't the best but its far from bad and who really cares...Simply put, the sushi is great and is priced low. What more do you really want if you like to eat Sushi alot.

Forget the Sushi Den – Fontana's is the place! Really good, quality sushi for much less than what Sushi Den expects you to pay. I recommend the Spicy Salmon handroll and Yellowtail rolls. Not only does Fontana serve up excellent sushi, their main entrees are almost worth sacrificing the sushi altogether. Try the Chicken Udon noodles - they're delicious. I've frequented Fontanas for over a year and have NEVER had a problem, service or digestive-wise. The restaurant is clean, the cooks are professional and the service is atten... read more
