Flying Mango is an absolute gem in the Des Moines metro area! The food here is incredible—a totally unique and delicious blend of barbecue, Cajun, and Creole flavors. It is no surprise that Guy Fieri featured them on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (you can even order the "What Guy Had" platter!). Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. I added a star for the place. I added another star for the waiter. She was nice. The drink was o.k., I had something with a mango non alcoholic. The cheese grits had NO cheese in them and no taste. The collard greens had too much vinegar in them. Brisket and Ribs had No taste other then the BBQ sauce. The cornbread was something from a box. Got the chopped brisket. It melted in my mouth. So tender and full of flavor! We will need back ‘
We got a delivery order and everything was really good. The only complaint I have is the catfish cake was dry and a little burnt but that's about all I can think of. Thank you!
