Fluidmaster has the corner on all toilet inserts as it relates to flushing and inlet valves. They sell a small rubber insert number 224 which is said to be a replacement for ALL their current and most used valves. Problem is the insert was mass produced and size is incorrect for their valves. Fluidmaster does produce a model 242 Replacement Seal for our current 400 models. The seal is used in the top cap and is one mechanism that turns off the inlet valve. The seal is an easy way to repair the valve without replacing the entire valve from the toilet. If the seals, you purchased, did not work that could mean that the valve has another issue. Business response:
Contacted Fluidmaster first apology but no assistance. As offered the part 242 indeed fits and offers it is designed for the 400 series value, but the included rubber seal is far thinner and does not seal properly. Manually moving plastic value turns off water while new rubber seal is installed. Part is clearly been revamped, mass produced, and failed. This caused consumer cost, time, and unfortunately buying another full valve from your brand.
