We hired Hootan at Fix and Flip to do a major renovation for us, which included a new toilet installation on the first floor. Less than two years after the renovation with complete, there was a bad sewer smell coming from the toilet. We called a local plumber to fix the issue, and they informed us that the toilet was originally installed incorrectly. UPDATE: Less than 2 years after this reno, we had reoccuring smell coming from our bathroom and it turns out that the toilet was improperly installed, and made no contact with the wax ring so sewer gas was just coming through the toilet. I had the plumber who discovered the issue fix it, reached out to Hootan who said he would get back to me with a proposal to cover the cost, but has since gone completely silent.
