Years ago, it would have been difficult to find a hip, urban hot spot where one can enjoy a nice meal and then dance until the wee hours. Five Star proves that Raleigh can party with the best of them. Fashioned from an old tobacco warehouse, the restaurant is decorated in a hip, minimalist style and all in red. There are two full-service bars and a large dance floor perfect for the large crowds that frequent the restaurant.

This place is awesome the service is pretty decent the drinks are strong depending on what you get and I like the portion sizes. You get what you pay for pretty much but the food is great! I love the atmosphere when they have the DJ going. My co-workers and I start to celebrate a lot of occasions they're mainly birthdays!
We ate at the restaurant for the very first time last night during the Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week. We had the Generals Chicken and the crunchy sesame beef and they were both delicious and very well cooked. The proportions were huge and we ended up taking the remainder home with us. The service was really great and everyone was very friendly. My only complaint would be the lack of diet drinks available with Diet Pepsi being the only choice. I've enjoyed eating at Five Star over the past 3 years, on at least 20 different occasions. Last night will be the last time I go here for a while. The food was extremely oily and greasy and not prepared in a way that me or my friend are accustomed to. It left a poor taste in our mouth for a restaurant that has consistently in the past served up amazing dishes. Hopefully it was just a new chef in the kitchen, but for now, I'll have to recommend passing on this until the experience is far back in my memory.
