Great Engine! I bought a 327 engine got the engine put in my 1966 nova ss and less then 500 miles it was knocking. Called chris and he called the freight company and had the engine picked up and shipped back to five star engine. Chris informed me that it was a rod bearing # 8 to be exact, they repaired and shipped the engine back to me and I have had no problems, it runs great and really strong!! It was built using the thumper cam and it sounds great and turns heads every where I go. Thanks Chris

Horrible Business I bought a Ford 302 Crate Motor from 5 star last June to put into my 1968 Mercury Cougar. This is one of, if not the worst purchase I have ever made in my life. I ordered the motor and they said it would be ready in 13 days. Long story short, it was finally delivered nearly two months after the initial date they had set for the shipment. When the engine came it was a beautiful engine, but thats where my love affair with it ends. The motor was gently broken in, including all the fluid changes. I was the only... read more

Five Star Engines Rock !! I read some of the more negative postings and found them to be anonymous and with no contact information. Interesting. I had the extreme good fortune to discover Five Star Engines in Craigs List. As a matter of fact they were the only one out of 3 other companies that responded to my inquiry and I am very glad about that. I have very special needs in that my car came into California from Nevada and would not meet the ridiculious smog requirements. This required me to change my existing motor and rep... read more

DO NOT RELY ON WARRANTY. I wish I had read the reviews below on service quality and warrant reliability before I contacted Five Star Engines. They were responsive when making a sale but when their product had issues and different mechanics said deeper issues needed to be addressed by the engine builder, all of a sudden I wasn't a priority anymore. I called them at least 6 times over a four months period, sent emails, and left messages only to be told they couldn't take the vehicle in at that time. They told me they would cal... read more

Received 375 h.p. 350 motor . Missing the Flywheel . The carb. Should be a 680 cfm but it's a 600. More to come on review after I inspect more. I will see if they stand by their product. This cost BIG money in MyTime-Labor-Schedule !!!

Zero star chris! Family friends for going on 40 yrs words cannot describe all the ways he cheated, flat out lied. He has ruined 3 engines beyond repair and actually sold 2 of them I got nothing. Crank was tapered, egg shaped, the rods ruined with .080 gap on one side when other was flat, the align hone on ALL blocks was out as much as .009 at parting line, charged for bore with deck plates but did not, Cylinders were .005 too large. Online says ALL blocks bored with deck plates. Should say none are. Positive reviews are done... read more

If you want an expensive boat mooring, then go to these incompetent clowns. They "built" me a Chevy 283 which failed totally after 150 km driving. If you want an engine that is full of dirt, has bent and badly pitted conn rods, incorrectly seating valves, rear main full of silicon etc etc then go ahead and deal with them. Chris Smith is totally dishonest, and hopeless to deal with because of this. Noel New Zealand

I have only used 5 stare once but never again The rebuilt 350 he sold me went 100 miles. I was told it was a drop and go. What it was the lifters weren't even bench adjusted. After my third try with a new carb I passed emission by one point. My third day driving it home from work it over heated. I let it cool down and when I got it home and not wanting to deal with the business owner, Chris I pulled the plugs to run a compression test but as soon as I cranked the starter I saw water coming out #5 and #7. I pulled the head ... read more
