Arrived to check in at front desk. Both women behind the counter just stared at us – no greeting, nothing, just looked at us like “Well, what do you want?”. I know Mainers are reserved, but aren’t you all in the service industry? Do you care nothing about guest interactions, and is it worth the bad review you will get? Got to our second floor room and the immediate onslaught of the stench of urine, and chemicals to mask the urine odor, was overpowering. Went back down to desk. Excellent stay here! Our first time in Boothbay and we arrived early. They not only allowed us to use the parking lot early, we were even able to check in early with no issues. Everyone we interacted with, from the front desk staff to the bartenders, were easy going, positive, and provided excellent service. The view from Happy Hour at the tavern was incredible and our entire experience here was great. What a terrific place to spend a night or two in Boothbay! We had a lovely room with a little balcony overlooking the harbor, with boats bobbing or chugging by. The management were helpful and friendly, we had a great coffee bar near our room for the morning cupa, and the bar in the evening was right on the water with great indoor and outdoor seating. Good drinks and warm and a friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend this spot!
