I expected quality from a big builder like DR Horton, but what I got was rushed, sloppy workmanship. The framing was poor, with joists not butting up properly and exposed nails left in multiple areas. Drywall seams were uneven, trim was misaligned, and outlets weren’t straight. It’s clear the crews are cutting corners, and DR Horton isn’t providing proper oversight. This isn’t just cosmetic—it’s structural. Buyers beware: you’re paying for a name, not guaranteed quality.
Cheapest built home you will ever look at. The walls are made of cardboard and crumble under picture hanging hooks. The wood they use must be pre-chewed by termites because when the first wind came through our backyard, the fence broke in several places (it’s less than a year old.) It looks like 3 year olds painted the interior. Warning to all potential buyers at Fireside By the Lake. The taxes for this community are outrageous because D R Horton elected to have it in a MUD district which was never declared to us . WE do Not have emergency services , you will die before an ambulance can respond or a police officer . On May 23rd My Grand Son needed an ambulance Garland refused to respond so did Dallas county . Finally My daughter put him in the car and drove him to the Garland Fire station which is 2 miles away to get some help . Spoke to their VP of... read more
The community was nice just wish they were upfront about how much you have to make to own a home which was ridiculous and could have been better. I was so hurt because I really want the home.
Please be aware that this community is considered an unincorporated area of Dallas County within the city of Garland. This means that when you dial 911, Garland EMS will not report here, even when there is a Garland fire station within 4 mins away. Instead you must wait 20 -30 mins until Dallas County Fire Rescue shows up.
