Unfortunately I was misled by the happy photos and baked goods at this facility and placed my mom here. Things were not what they seemed. My mother died with a total of 9 bedsores and sognes of serious neglect. I have filed an unlawful death suit. Things went downhill for our family when the facility hired a high profile law firm to appoint a guardian. This resulted in my rights being stripped when I attempted to raise my voice. My mom was at Finnish American Village (FAV) for 5 months and she loved it there. The best way I can describe FAV is people who work there have "heart". I saw the care they took with residents. I paid attention when my mom first moved in because I wanted to be sure she was treated well. My mom was happier at FAV than she was in her apartment before moving there. Quite, friendly and next to Costco!
My mother is a resident of the Finnish American village. As a geriatric nurse practitioner, I am a consultant for many long term care facilities. This is one of the best nursing homes I have visited. The management and staff are a caring and understanding group of professionals who go out of their way to treat the residents with respect and kindness.
