I had post mastectomy reconstructive surgery done by Dr Fernandez. First of all, he stitched on every nerve possible. He told me he couldn’t tell he was suturing on nerves, but I have since found out that surgeons can tell where the nerves are when they are doing subdermal sutures. I don’t know why anyone would do that. I am tortured daily by the pain. All the way around my rib cage. Also, my scars are hideous and the implants are in a very odd position. Will not take VA patients period! If you are VA patient and you have other Payer sources, don’t breath a word about your VA coverage because they will turn you down immediately with no real reason other than to say it’s the doctors preference. I made this mistake today trying to get my Dad an appointment for a badly fractured finger. I get it if you don’t want to work with VA but he had other excellent payers like blue cross/blue shield federal that could have covered it. They say he's cheap. We'll you will get what you pay for. Set an appointment for consultation weeks in advance. I show up early to fill any paperwork needed. This guy wasn't even there. Reception put me in a room. Ten minute wait, after my set appointment time, he shows up. Asked what I wanted. Three minutes later he gives me a gown. Says to change and he'll be right back. The guy had me waiting 25 min while he was seeing other patients!!!!!! I had paid an office fee when I arrived. Most physicians ask for payment after visi... read more
