Customer Service – We have been going to Federhofer's for over 30 years. All of my kids and now Grandkids birthday and special ocassion cakes have come from there. It has been a family tradition. Tuesday first thing I called and ordered a cake. I wanted white dough, white icing. I was told it was too late to get the cake for the next day in white dough, but could have yellow or chocolate. Best Bakery in STL – I used to live up the street from this little gem when I was in college. I still go there frequently. The "icing on the cake" so to speak is their German chocolate cake. There is none - in the world - better. Melt-in-your-mouth, and everything combines perfectly in everyway; nothing, not the icing, coconut, or anything overpowers the cake in a negative way. In fact, I might just pick one up this weekend...
Not as good as it used to be – This used to be one of my favorite bakeries. They stopped making chiffon cheesecake, but more importantly the customer service is just BAD. I went in with my little baby nephew and asked if I could buy one cookie for him (I was buying a lot of other items) and was told I could only buy 8. You don't get that "neighborly" feeling. You might as well be shopping at some chain store. The peanut coffee cake I bought was dry and stale tasting. I won't go back.
Federhofer's is NOT in St. George! – Their bakery buns bring sandwiches up a notch! They are the good old-fashioned sweet, egg-bread style. And their gooey butter cake and other bakery items are quite good, too. And, for those uninformed folks - Federhofer's is NOT in St. George. Check your maps people! The 63123 Zip code covers an extensive range. And, frankly why someone would avoid a particular place just because of St. George is absolutely ludicrous. Best – A traditional bakery that cares about what they do. I buy our bread cakes and deserts there. For about the best price as ...it's delicious. And for the record since I live very nearby, it is in Affton, and unless you decided to drive well out of your way you wouldn''t even drive through St George to get there. It's at Gravois and Weber. Try it! You won't be disappointed.
A Neighborhood Bakery The Way It Should Be – You can't beat the quality of this place. A traditional bakery that cares about what they do. We not only buy cakes/desserts there, but we buy our bread there as well. For abut the same price as what you'd get at the grocery store you can have quality bakery bread...it's delicious. ADORABLE and delicious cakes! – Who in the world would rate a bakery due to a speed trap? I have a great idea... GO THE SPEED LIMIT. Oh, and P.S. Federhofer's is not in St. George. Moving on; my Sister-in-law got my nephews birthday cake from Federhofer's for his party last weekend. The cake was the CUTEST!!! It was delicious too! I'm getting my girls birthday cake here in October. Can't wait to see what they can do with my theme and the cake that I want.
Don't let a reputed "speedtrap" scare you off! – Don't let the reviewer, nunnya, scare you off. Why anyone would not go to Federhofer's, because they are located in St. George and the town is a notorious speedtrap, is beyond me. Per the U.S. Census Bureau, St. George is .2 square mile! Wonderful Bakery – This is a wonderful bakery with tasty treats and a friendly staff. They made a specially designed cake for my niece. It was beautiful and yummy! Everyone asked where it came from! If you decide not to go to this bakery based on it's location, you are nuts!!! Don't speed if you don't want a ticket!
