this credit union is a joke. They bought out the credit union i was a member at for a decade and i had no problem getting loans. now that family security took over they don't give ANY loans and that's what a credit union is for. They can take payments right out of your checking acct. and they still wont give loans. The number they have is listed local but when u call u get Boaz branch and they put you thru to Stevenson branch. This credit union is nothing but crooked! Two and half years ago, we were in a crunch, needed a vehicle, got financed thru here.. not only was rate high, they love to add lender insurance to the loan every 4-6 months, doesn't matter if you have your own auto insurance, loan amount was raised three times to a lil more than a hundred dollars onto the payment per month! We sent letters, faxes showing insurance! I'm pretty sure someone in that organization has connections to a insurance company, not too mention the blonde haired... read more

This insurance coverage is standard practice among financial institutions and it protects the lending bank or credit union's interests against a loss. Family Security's loan agreement clearly states that the borrower agrees to purchase and maintain insurance coverage on their vehicle for the term of the loan.
