I was locked in a filthy jail cell at False Bay Hospital, forced to sleep on the floor, bitten by insects, surrounded by cockroaches, and misgendered by staff—this is a hate crime in South Africa; I urge all LGBTQ+ and mental health patients to avoid this hospital.
I was very impressed with the kind treatment we received there. I found the staff very friendly. Every thing was clean and in good order.
The people just do not care for mental instabilities and make it extremely difficult to get help. We are human beings, stop treating us like we are less. I am on record with the psychiatric department, go in and try make a booking and they want me to go through the entire process of seeing a GP again when I have already done that. Do you realize the emotional stress you are putting on us????? We are there for help, not to make things worse for us.
I had to wait really long. But when I got seen everyone was so friendly and caring and amazing. I was so impressed with the care and help I was given. My Dr. was amazing. I can see she really cares for her patience and makes sure you are ok. She put her whole hear into her job. Thank you so much to everyone.
