Beware of Fairmont appraisal services. They did an appraisal of my home for a re-fi and the appraised value and calculations were absurd. I did a 2nd floor addition to my house less than two years ago. At the same time, I renovated the whole 1st floor from top to bottom. All high end materials, appliences, and high efficient HVAC, tankless water heaters, etc. were used. Fairmount will call the tax assessor’s office in your town to look for any errors that may exist in the description of your home. If they find that the town does not have up to date records about your property they will appraise your home based on the mistaken information on file even if that results in a huge decrease in the appraisal value of your home without giving you any chance to correct the error.
