Right by the Santa Cruz campus & local attractions. In the midst of renovation...our room was new but still missing some furniture (only had one chair) & problems with toilet overflowing. Staff was very helpful with the disruption of water on the floor.
My family and I always opt to stay at the variety of Marriot hotels because it is always a lovely experience. That unfortunately was not the case for this location. The hotel is currently under construction so there are only so many rooms available where you will not be disturbed by the noise. Ours had the "view" of a used RV storage facility that I'm fairly certain had people living in the RVs and a large dumpster. There’s something disappointing about expecting a familiar level of service and realizing it’s no longer there. As a Titanium Elite, I stay at Marriott properties year-round, but this hotel has taken a turn for the worse. While other Elites were greeted warmly, my family was ignored. A confirmed upgrade was denied, despite availability, and the staff’s internal issues were taken out on me. Management promised to make things right over a month ago, yet nothing has been done. I had an amazing stay here. Located next to the Santa Cruz bike factory and easy access to the trail network at the neiboring state park. A perfect destination for a mountain biker. The staff were super helpful and frindly, rooms were clean, breakfast was as expected for this chain. I espcialy love 24/7 coffe avaliblity. If I ever return to California, I would love to stay herr again. So much to see in a short walk or bike ride from this hotel.
