My dad was in hospice care at my home in Redmond for the last 18+ months, with Evergreen Hospice providing oversight, medications, and assistance. I cannot speak highly enough about the exemplary service we received by every member of their team. First and foremost his nurse Nicoletta, who was so helpful and kind. In my experience being on hospice home care with Evergreen since March 2025, I find it to be a bureaucracy like any other. Worse, it is mired in illogical Medicare rules and allopathic short-sightedness. Most hospice companies are likely similar. I'm questioning whether hospice home care is the best choice for me and others if you are still mobile and independent with intact cognitive skills, despite a terminal diagnosis. Evergreen Health hospice provided in home care for my 95 year old mother in her last 3 months of life. They were so wonderful. They guided my sister and I through the whole thing. They helped her Adult Family Home caregivers as well. They were even able to tell us when to notify our out-of-town siblings that the end was near and a last visit should be soon. I'm currently dying because of chronic pancreatitis my pancreas is half dead and needs to be removed but no one in this state will do it. Also my insurance won't let me go out of state. So I get to wait until my pancreas dies and I follow soon after. I have been with evergreen for a long time now and my doctors are with Evergreen so I reached out to their palliative care.
