Terrible Steak – Ordered the ribeye and it arrived as mostly a piece of fat. Complained to the waitress (who was very good) and the manager's response was "Sorry. Sometimes they are more marbled than others." This was not simply overly marbled it was a bad piece of meat. No reason to risk it here when so many steakhouses in SF put out a consistently good product. Look elsewhere....

what a gem – Had a great meal at Eureka restaurant. I had the tri tip cooked to a perfect medium rare. It came with delicious mashed potatoes and perfectly grilled pea pods. My one guest had the chicken which I tried and it was great. I will have it on my next visit. My other guest had the pork chop which was perfectly moist. We each started with a salad. Worst Steak Ever – A $30 steak should not be 95% fat and only 5 % meat and should not be served on a HUGE pile of mashed potatoes. Very disappointing!

Great Service, Classic Dishes Done Well – My boyfriend randomly picked this place from OpenTable and what a nice surprise! The hostess was great, made us feel right at home. He set the expectation for good service; the rest of the staff picked it up and was on par for the rest of the evening! We had a couple of appetizers - both pretty solid, but the crab croquets were a bit salty and the mushroom ravioli a little oily but the flavor . The main dishes were wonderful. great redo – Had a great meal the other night at this redone space...love the green walls...very soothing...sit upstairs in the winter in front windows and near the fireplace...very cozy and fun to watch the world go by outside. Had great triple cream blue cheese appetizer and a wonderful, flavorful (and REALLY big) pork chop, actuallt couldn't finish it all, so it was a nice snack later.

4 Star Food – Eureka is a first class operation with terrific food prepared and served by serious restaurant pros! The lamb was among the best in the City and the house-smoked sturgeon with caviar was beyond perfection! Bravo!

Lost Opportunity – What a disappointment. We waited a month after Eureka opened to dine there, thinking that would be enough time for the glitches to shake out. Apparently not. The space itself is beautifully done and very pleasant. The food, though, was absolutely mediocre. Crab cakes were overly spiced and incredibly dry. Steaks were poor quality and not properly cooked.
