Fresh ingredients + Family owned = delicious food made by people who care about it. The chilaquiles are to die for. This is how restaurants are supposed to be! Definitely will be back!
I really liked their welcoming atmosphere and the cleanliness of the dining area. Food was delightful. I will definitely eat at Escencia when visiting Chicago.
Very much enjoyed the special: biscuits & gravy with 2 eggs. Not what I'd call traditional, but absolutely delicious!!! And the horchata was yummy, too! I'd recommend it to anyone. :-)
Delicious food, five stars for that! But I'm docking a star because we called ahead for our table, and when we checked in at the right time, they said it would be another 20-25 minutes. But, everything was delicious and worth the wait! Banana bread especially.
Great fresh food! Sweet family restaurant. You really need to try the handmade marshmallows
